2011 reflections
SO, 2011 has been a really big year for me, jammed packed with some big finales and some really big firsts. Here is a list of my top ten things that happened in 2011 (I guess the are from least to greatest?).
10. Apartment - I have my own APARTMENT! Well I am rooming with two other TFA-ers making rent very affordable, BUT i am officially living on my own! And it is a lovely apartment! Three bedroom, two bath and SO MANY CABINETS/CLOSETS! And awesome windows too! A pretty great place to live my first year out!
9. TFA - I got accepted into TFA! Did not think this would be what I would be doing at all BUT it is a wonderful experience thus far because I love my school and my kids. I think it is a great way to start my education crusade.
8. Soccer Coach - I COACHED BOYS SOCCER! It was SO much fun! Yea I had less time for almost everything BUT it was so rewarding to see my kids succeed! We made it to the playoffs as a first year team with almost half the team as first time players - not too shabby! Plus I got to coach with Rich - our British math teacher - fun times all around!
7. Phoenix - I moved across the country in June! I have never been to the West Coast - in fact the farthest West that I had been was central PA - SO needless to say it was a BIG change, especially moving in JUNE - summer in Arizona is HOT - now it is quite lovely, but geezums I had never been in 120 degree heat! As long as I can swim or be in air conditioning I think I will be fine, but wow! Also, I went from small town MA, to even smaller town PA, to CITY! Yea, it is not as smooshy as NYC or even Boston, but it is a CITY and I have never lived in one before! It is nice to know that things are ALWAYS open, but since I have been home for a week, I do have to say I do kinds miss small town. SO I will live it up in the city until I come back to the East.
6. Car - I BOUGHT a CAR! A beautiful 2006 Scion XA! She is gray and a hatchback and i love her! Her name is Lana and she is being the best first car ever! =)
5. Student teaching - AHHH almost forgot that i has the BEST time student teaching. I had some doubts before I began, but this solidified the fact that I should be teaching HISTORY. I loved my cooperating teacher and my kids and teaching American History. So many fond memories!
4. License - i FINALLY got my LICENSE! It took me until I was 21 BUT i finally did it! Once TFA said that I needed to get a car in Phoenix, I said okay, I guess I have to get my license now! I did it in three weeks and now am able to drive anywhere! =)
3. Graduating - I GRADUATED FROM SU!!!! VALEDICTORIAN!!! 4.0!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!! Reflecting on 4 years of college would take a lot more space, SO I will just leave it at that!
2. Collin - I am dating an absolutely wonderful boy! He is in Phoenix and we are forging our way through all the new! Words will not give our relationship justice so I am just going to say I have never been happier with someone. I can finally be myself, completely. <3
1. FIRST REAL JOB! I AM AN ENGLISH TEACHER! So not my first choice BUT it could be A LOT worse. I am trying my best to be English-y and it is not going too badly. I have one semester down and I have one more to go! Wish me luck!
Ned Stark Lives: Effects of Kissing:
- Long kisses are beneficial to our circulatory system. When kissing, our pulse rate is quickening up to 110 beats per minute. This is a great training for our cardiovascular system.
- After kissing, the lungs work harder,…

Positive list!
Since there has been a lot of negativity surrounding me lately, i want to document POSITIVE things that are happening because sometimes (or more often than not) i forget them and the bad/negative suck me in. So I am going to write about good/happy/positive things that are happening in my life from now on.
1. I have a super awesome job - yea i probably complain about it more than i should, but literally i for the TFA jackpot here - my staff is SUPER (which is really 50% of happiness or more at a job) - my staff is great to hang out with, we all get along (for the most part), and our principal is awesome! my kids can be rough sometimes, but they all have a good heart - they are great. Just wish they would pay attention and stop talking for longer than 5 minutes!
2. My soccer team made it to the playoffs!!!! Rich (math teacher) and I coached soccer this fall and for a first year team with the majority of freshmen on it, we made it to the playoffs!!! Although we lost today (4-0) we did better against this team than last time AND for the first time EVER we did not give up as a team after the other team scored on us! We only let one goal in the second half, a MAJOR improvement from any other game where we have lost! Plus, our team as a whole has improved - we had SO many kids who had never played soccer before and now they are really decent soccer players! I am so proud of my boys!
3. My students are kinda liking Hamlet thus far - yea we are using NoFear Shakespeare, BUT at least it is accessible for the time being and i HOPE we will work our way up to the real stuff by the end of the play!
4. I have a wonderful boyfriend - man o man if he was not with me I am pretty sure I would have gone crazy by now - he deserves some sort of medal for listening to me complain, vent, stubborn, upset….well the list goes on. He is a saint and I am so thankful we can be in the same city! =)
5. I GET TO GO HOME IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS!!! i have not been home/seen my family since the beginning of June!!!! I am so excited to be home for x-mass and new years with the fam and just relax, be with my family and catch up on Glee with my mom, video games with my big brother, history with my dad, music with my bigger brother, sisterness with my sister, cute stories with my sister-in-law, JETS with my brother-in-lawl, and play time with my niece and nephew!!! AND i am excited to see my FRIENDS - so many video games, board games, shows, movies, and silliness need to be had by us all.
6. I am going to see Anonymous with my Brit Lit class this Friday and Sunday! They are all about this controversy about Shakespeare (he may not have written anything at all) so they are all pretty pumped! I mean I am too (the movie looks fabulous) but I am just thankful and happy my students are grabbing onto something Shakespeare related!
7. We have a kitten named Diego!!! I need to find my camera so i can post pictures because he is the CUTEST thing EVER! i love kittens! <3
Okay, i think that is all for now - this made me happier! I need to find outlets for happiness and I think this is the way to go! As soon as I find my camera there will be plentiful pictures of Diego!
